About
I’m Eli Appelbaum, and Appel Studios is me. I study management at the University of Florida. The small businesses around me had good products and weak ways of showing them, so I started making the films and the sites myself. I edit from footage the business already has. I design and code the site.
I don’t rehearse. Thinking about a job for too long builds anticipation, and the anticipation turns into fear. The fear slows the work down, not the job. So I find the best way to do it and go.
My ego is the part of me most likely to ruin a project, so it doesn’t get to grade the work. I check everything against a real number before I call it finished, a habit I picked up trading futures. When I can’t see the right version of something, I picture the worst one first. The right one is usually its opposite. That’s the whole studio.
